What to pack for the desert?
Hot days, cold nights and few shops: the list so you forget nothing.
Clothing
Dress in layers: light long-sleeved tops for the sun, a fleece and a down jacket for the evening. A chech (turban scarf) protects from sun and sand, and you can buy one locally.
For sleeping and walking
A warm sleeping bag (0 °C comfort in winter), a headlamp, worn-in walking shoes and sandals for camp. Check with the agency what it provides.
Health and sun
Sunglasses, high-protection sunscreen, lip balm, a water bottle and a small first-aid kit with your usual medicines. The air is very dry, so bring moisturiser too.
Money and phone
Foreign bank cards are rarely accepted in the south, so bring cash. Mobile coverage reaches the towns but not the deep desert. Power sockets are the same as in continental Europe.
